Challenge

Church was on a legacy Internet (EDI circuits) infrastructure with low bandwidth and single point of failure to 3 different campuses. In addition, the phone system was using copper POTS lines which were being phased out by vendor.

Approach

  • Reviewed existing IT contracts and negotiated contract termination clauses
  • Worked with Telesystems to identify potential telecom providers for the various services and locations
  • Worked with telecom vendors to provision replacement circuits and migrate Internet connectivity for each location
  • Facilitated porting of phone numbers from legacy system to VOIP provider

Outcome

  • Replaced legacy EDI Internet network with faster redundant fiber Internet connections at all 3 campuses (at a lower operating cost).
  • Replaced 17+ year old phone system with modern VOIP system that increased capabilities (e.g. videoconferencing) and enabled staff and volunteers to communicate effectively anywhere.
