Challenge

Client was a long-time user of the Caseware platform who were not utilizing Smartsync feature that allowed multiple people to work in a binder concurrently. The underlying on-premise infrastructure was also beginning to show its age and backup and recovery of files took longer than desired.

Approach

  • Identified pain points and developed recommendation to migrate to the newly released Caseware Cloud platform
  • Oversaw project management efforts to develop governance and plan technical migration activities
  • Migrated 4 TB of Caseware binders covering multiple years and thousands of tax and audit engagements
  • Implemented retention and file access restrictions

Outcome

  • Significantly increased efficiency of working in binders (seamless syncing of data across multiple users)
  • Improved security and binder access restrictions to reduce risk and better address compliance needs.
  • Completed multiple busy seasons with no major outages.
